The Healing Field

A couple years ago I was able to create some short videos for The Colonial Flag Foundation. With help from the community, they post hundreds and even thousands of flags on open fields honoring troops, remembering victims of 9/11, and raising awareness for child abuse. It has become a national project and recently went international. It has been an honor to be a part of it is some way.
Here is a link to their video page
And these are the videos I created

Nott Block Promos

From my personal Blog:
"Several months ago I watched the movie Be Kind Rewind. At the end of it, a community gets together, and using their limited resources, make a movie about their history. Their movie wasn't a blockbuster, and it didn't win any awards, but it was theirs.
I've been putting off my movie ideas because I didn't really have any way to make them, but after seeing that movie I realized that it doesn't matter how perfect it is, so long as it is something that I could emotionally connect to.
Using just a simple point and shoot digital camera, getting help and ideas from my brothers, and music from my friend David Crockett, we've been able to make Nott Block.
It's not a blockbuster, and it won't win any awards, but it's ours.
We just hope it makes you smile even a little bit."

Nott Block has proven to be more popular than I thought that it would be. It was a personal project that got a lot of attention, very fast! (thank you facebook)
My brothers Matt and Adam jumped right onboard and added their ideas and talents to Nott Block to make it what it is. Other family and friends have helped, and many are anxious to help in the future.
I don't know how long it will last, but I'm enjoying the ride.
Here are the trailer and promos for Nott Block

Avoiding Office Situations

In English class we were asked to create a training video that could make improvements in an office setting. This was our group's idea.

Evil Twin

For a film class up at the U, we had to make a short film using techniques we had learned that semester. We later reshot this sketch for a Nott Block episode.

Layer Tests

I was pretty excited when I got Final Cut, my imagination was always being limited by iMovie. These are two quick tests I did with video layers

Time Lapse

When I first got my MacBook I found out that it could do time lapse movies. I only wish that mowing the lawn really went this fast.
Music - Ordinary Day by Great Big Sea

Bowling Pins

This one is just silly. Up at the U, I visited their surplus store. In it I found a huge bin of bowling pins for just 25¢ each. How could I pass that up?

Vienna

My brother Adam came up with this idea for a simple music video for Billy Joel's Vienna. My other brother Matt borrowed a camera from the school for a weekend, and with some inventive lighting, we were able to create this. I had a lot of fun filming this, it helped my get a good feel for creating natural zooms and focuses. It is one of those videos that I look back at and think, "Wow! I made that?"

Let's Make a Date

At the beginning of the school semester, our teacher had each of us present ideas for a short film that would be made at the end of the semester. My idea was one that was chosen, and those that liked it joined my group. Originally we weren't going to have any speaking, but when I later looked at the footage, I realized the actors were mouthing words. Rather than going through the headache of matching their lips with voice overs, I took my brother Matt's suggestion and added Spanish voice overs. The humor of it all really sets in if you know spanish. I owe a huge thanks to Mark Feldman for all the physical abuse he went through for us.

IM a Jerk

One of my first school projects. Our group shot this short sketch as we learned how to use the camera. Each person then took the footage to create their own edit of it. This is mine, with a little bit of music, voice overs, and foley that I added later with help from my brothers Matt and Adam.
